u have no real acurate answers yet so here it goes... go to oreilly's or other major parts store and ask them to read the codes on your on board computer.. that is the first step.. I am going to assume u know to check fluids. if the codes are beyond your capabilities take to a good repair shop and have them diagnose.. the ck engine light means alot , not the least is what others have said. it won't tell u that u need a tuneup. but it will tell u that there is a sensor that isn't working or that it really is. and a tuneup might the the ticket, but start there.. unless u are a reactive maintenance type . u wait till there's a problem and react to it.. this is why american cars get a bad rap.. and u see owners of jap and euro cars that neglect thier cars too. but take care of it. if u r then read the codes. and go from there. good luck

its about that time for a major tune up. After it is done they will reset the check engine light.

Get your codes checked. That will pinpoint (usually) where and what the problem is. It could be a number of things.

maybe a simple tune up (plugs, filters) or the oxygen sensor needs replacing, no biggie though, the tranny is not going to fall out or anything!
