I come to the LGB&TG section every once in a while b/c of different reasons. First, I'm a culture freak... and I love learning all I can about different people from different cultures. Second, and I hope this doesn't come across the wrong way, as a female, the best male friends I ever had were gay... unlike straight men, they never "played" the friendship role with the alterior motive of getting into my pants. While I'm not bi, I can definitely appreciate another woman's beauty... I find nothing wrong with that. And finally, I come here to get my kicks from seeing how angry another person's sexuality can make religious extremist hypocrites :) I think it's hilarious, and I have to admit that one of my own little "guilty pleasures" is seeing how pathetic and ignorant people allow themselves to look all because they're "supposedly" better than anyone else who doesn't believe in THEIR God the way THEY believe.... while never realizing that a bigot is a bigot, whether he or she is racist, sexist, or a religious extremist... they are still someone who hates another person (or group of people) solely based on the fact that they're DIFFERENT! I mean helloooo! like their life is all that great or perfect anyway LOL.
Wow.. sorry I went off on a tirade :)

I come to these forums to learn more. To understand more of how I would be different from you. But I've never posted my opinion until now because I have had conflicting views of the subject.
I have friends who've come out in the open. I could not condemn them, and I don't think I have the right to. I can't hate them, the're my friends. Even if my religious beliefs are... different.
I go here now to try to understand them more. And I've found out that, whether straight or gay, we have the same feelings and can get hurt the same way and feel happy about the same things. I even envy them now because they've been able to express their feelings more openly then I can to those they care about.
They've never forced me to do or act any different, nor was I ever identified as being homosexual just because they were my friends.
Perhaps those who do post things like what you say... have never had friends who are homosexuals. They don't understand, and feel threatened by it.

I've got news for you: I stick up for you. Not all straight people are morons. I am indifferent to same-sex marriage, so I guess I'm not against it. Only the idiot homophobes with nothing better to do post the kind of nonsense you are referring to. Bigotry sucks. I view homosexuality as being of biological origin... because it is. In other words, I don't consider it a moral issue, I consider it a medical issue - no more and no less. You are what you are. Homosexual men and women have contributed greatly to our culture and society. And btw: I study retroviruses and am supposed to come up with a medical invention (ex-wife was ALWAYS right about stuff like that) - you should be VERY nice to me... ;)

The way I see it: There are so many 'abnormalities' in children at birth. We don't reject joined twins, we don't reject infants with altruism, we don't reject birth defects. If you are born with this tendency God's knows about it and has all control.
If someone has been sexually abused as a child and this leads to homosexuality the one to be shunned and condemned, not the victim.a
We just do not know scientifically about this issue to be judgemental!
I find it much more dangerous and offensive to God to judge others, especially when we just don't know the facts.
This issue does not affect me personally but I am not threatened by homosexuals and believe they should have all the rights of the rest of us.
God is the judge of us all: homosexuals, prostitutes, those having abortions for birth control, adultry, etc.
I choose to love not judge!

Same reason Atheists come into the R&S category. And if there were an Atheist category, the Christians would go there and harass them. Some people delight in harassing others.
The best remedy is to not feed them with your attention. When the fish stop biting, the fishermen go elsewhere.

I suppose it is an individual thing. I have no need of your god in my life so I choose not to invent him. (((Olga))) Edit: Lol. The deeper you look in my heart the less you will find the need for a god. Thank you for the offer of prayer, but as prayer is a psycholgical tool that can influence the cognition of a believer it would be better to pray for someone whose thoughts might be influenced by the prayer.

I love how all these arguements against gays are for religious reasons. *sigh* Mythology and delusions will make people believe in the stupidest things. The Bible isn't real. It's just a book. Would you get over it already and join us all in REALITY please?
Anyways, continue to educate them. It's the only way they'll learn. I see by some of the responses that we have A LOT of work still to do.

to answer a question, I don't hate gays (I don't understand them either), and the same sex marriage thing ? I would tend to think thats an ADVANTAGE of being gay, you don't have to get married, and PLEASE, if you are gay, and a straight person is nice to you, and friendly, PLEASE DON'T TAKE IT AS THE PERSON SAYING "I'd really like to try being gay, pull a move on me", it really ruins a friendship when you guys do this, thats why straight people shy away from you guys. It makes us uncomfortable, we pretty much can spot a gay person (not always okay), we don't always need to be informed about it, thank-you.

We answer because your lifestyle is affecting our lives. Instead of being who yo are and enjoying it, you want to be me with a twist. What I mean to say is why do you wna tot get married? Why cant you and yours be together, love each other and leave it at that. Nooooo, you have to be married, you want to reorganize the instituion of marriage as it was set forth by God in Genesis. Do what you want, but why are you trying to alter everything to to suit you. If I disagree, Im a homophobe instead of someone disagreeing with you. WHy catergorize me, you are the minority. Be curious if you want, I dont hate you, but I still dont have to agree.
