Bit goes in the mouth chain under the chin.
If your horse has not been trained to a curb bit or any type of leverage bit be VERY CAREFUL. The chain under the chin causes pressure under the chin and can make them toss their heads and fight. It can be painful if not correctly adjusted.
Have some who knows how to fit hte bit show you where it is suppose to hang in the horses mouth and go slow with it.
We do not use them here as I have not had good luck with them on my thoroughbreds. I much prefer snaffles to a curb bit.

The curb chain goes under the bottom jaw of your horse, the bit goes in the mouth. I'm not sure how Long you've been riding or hoe old your horse is, but sometimes a curb bit is not the best way to calm a horse down. I don't know the situation, but it's just a thought.

I hope I am understanding your question right.
The bit goes in the mouth and the chain that is attached to that bit goes under her chin. Also if she is high strung maybe a harsh bit is not what she needs. Be careful when you use it a curb bit has a lot of leverage built in. Remember to use soft hands.
Hope I am not too preachy. Anyway I can't spell!
Good luck.
I went out and found this for you. You can take a look at the picture.

Well the bit for starters goes in the mouth. The curb chain should be attached underneath the chin. The curb chain is another way of you giving contact to oyour horse. Everytime you pull on the bit the chain pushes up on the chin. Its like you putting your finger up to the bottom of your jaw and pushing up.
