He does sing but its just that for the movie they needed someone who can do high parts and Zac is a baritone more of a lower deeper voice. Drew is a tenor more of a high note and keeps long notes. Zac is filming a movie called Hairspray and the character he plays is more of a baritone, so zac is going to sing all of his songs.
Zac efron sings at the beginning of Start of Something New before Vanessa sings. After that Drew sings. Zac also sings the last two line of the song, one line "the start of something new" and the second line "the start of something new" with vanessa. Same goes for Breaking Free. He sings the beginning part and the last part. He also sings the balcony part.

Drew Seeley sang for Zac in the first movie, after that Zac sang the songs himself..if you watch HSM1 and then Hairspray, you'll be able to tell the difference.

Drew Seelay is a countertenor. They needed a countertenor. Zac is a tenor. A countertenor is like a male alto. :D

Do you want the truth, or do you want a lie? Zac Efron has a wonderful voice, a hott voice, but it not perfect, very close. Disney felt they had to bring in fellow singer Andrew (Drew) Steely to contribute his voice talents to the soundtrack because Zac's voice is a range lower than the rest of the singing cast in the movie. It is anything but a rumor but it would be better if it were on the down low.. becuase I dont want my baby's career to be ruint... but he might also be singing in Hairspray, and Disney is thinking of letting him sing alone, no blending, for HSM 2.
