Human being is capable of perception through five sense organs with awareness, and also a bit deeper than that perhaps unawares ! This deeper perception is what people call as 'gut feeling' or 'intuition' etc.. Now this multi-dimensional perception makes 'talking' a very insignificant source of 'knowing' the other person, and it is therefore that 'communication' is said to be consisting of about 15 % through words, body language about 60% and so on.. !

have you ever been in one of those situations when you know someone is lying or something is not true, eventhough you dont know the facts, (and are not biased)? like though instinct?
whenever you speak, you always convey your true intent, either through your aura, eyes, tone of voice etc, what ever you prefer to call them..... but the fact is, speaking is only one of the ways to do so... but not many people are able to pick up these little signals........ i know someone who can characterise someone just by speaking to him for a few minutes, and she is usually correct.
a person can go on for hours trying to convince you of something, but if you cant "feel" the truth (dont ask me how, trust your instinct), that is when whatever the person is saying loses all meaning...................

Speak a few words and every word will have an impact.
Speak needlessly and nobody will listen.

Plus, when people don't talk, you are left to guess what they could say. if these people are respected figures, everyone guesses for something they would like to hear!

and the second is related: All talk and no action

Not talking does say something but not everything. Talking validates everything

It's kind of like the quote "Stay silent and people my think you stupid. Open your mouth and remove all doubt."

You are not interested in what they have to say so that's why it don't mean anything.
