In order to be successful you need to be a hard worker but also a smart one, cause you can be a hard worker and not make to wise of decisions. Or be amake good decsioins but not be a hard worker. You need motivation and good planning. But if you have both then god for you. good luck and happy holidays.

I think its a combination of both, but there are a lot of other factors. Sometimes it takes connections, and sometimes you do have to make good relations.. and sometimes you could work hard, work smart, and the very next day you get run over by a bus. Oh well.

Good question..... first I thought the smart guy will know how hard to work, but soon saw there is more to it........
Depends on the aim and the competition...... in favourable combination, you may neither need hard work nor smart.... but if the aim and competition are both high, hard as well as smart work may still require some luck too to succeed!

If you want to be successful, you need both. But, like LARRY J7 said, if you do not LOVE what you do, then it's to no avail. I've found with my own experiences that when I didn't like what I did, I didn't focus on it as much as I should have. I didn't put forth 110%. I didn't keep that job. BUT, when I did stuff that I did like doing, I worked harder, focused more, and was able to make smarter decisions in regards to how I did things. It's really 3 things that you need to be TRULY successful: Hard Work, Smart Work, and LOVING WHAT YOU DO. Thats my two cents.

You have to get with both to see success
BUT-- you are leaving out a very key element here
If you do not truly LOVE what you are doing---you will never succeed thoroughly in it ---for when you love what you do--you will work at it very hard and not be worn down by it--- and you will work smart at it-- because your mind will continually analyze and rethink processes that will cause you to work at it smarter !!!

Well, both. If you do smart work but you do it only like once a week, then you'll never get anywhere. And if you do hardwork, it doesn't matter if it's hard or not, because if it's stupid work, then you won't get anywhere.
