not a city, a colony, they plan to use the moon as a stepping stone to mars. i think i remember it to be 2029 to start. then theres going to be like only 15 people. the candidates are in 9th grade right now. the thing is that they will use hydrogen and oxygen and recycle. hydrogen can make water, air, and energy. the shuttle will travel slower than a normal one would because of sending more people with supplies for surviving on the moon. this is a mission to further the human race and science and technology.

As odd as it may seem Volvo have been working on parts of the space base for the moon for about 10 years. A friend of mine did a project with them. They are still at a very basic level, not building anything yet but they are preparing.
From what I recall of him tellin me about this (I havent seen him in about 5 years) the Euroean Space Agency had contracted the work out to Volvo so I would imagine that there are many other companies also working on the projects.
Remember that there are already semi feasible plans for colonising Mars and other deeper space projects. The most costly part of the launch excercise is the cost of getting the hardware into space, from what I have read plans to refuel on the moon would mean that we can travel much further. helium is a great rocket propellant and should be useful for other purposes and is a great compustable and is available for us on the moon. (also possibly used in fusion reactors, if we ever get there)The water on the moon can be broken down into oxygen as well as rocket fuel so its a perfect start point.
At the end of the day we will habitate the moon once being there is of utility from an economic point of view, so deeper exploration of space, provision of energy for our use and space travel and tourism. Together these may mean we have some people living there in the next 50 years...possibly even 20.

This is a question many people ask, the answer is not a simple yes or no. It is possible to sustain a habitat that can support human life on the moon, it is just not probable. what would we get out of it? it could not be a permanent home, what if some national crisis happened and we stranded thousands on the moon. Your question is if it will happen in 20 years, I personally think we might in 40-50 but not 20.

We might have a city on the moon, but not in 20 years. It's gonna take around 35-45 years from now. But, even if a city will be created on the moon, asteroid will destroy it. The moon didn't form with holes, ateroids always hit it.

Highly unlikely! There isnt much reason for having one there. It would never be put in the budgit to begin with. The more , life sustaining space platform that could travel to other local planets. The day will come when nasa opens its eyes and follows Aurthur Clarkes idea of an oneil ring!

Sure, but I don't know what we would possibly do there.
It would be cool just to say humans live outside of Earth, but that's about it. The moon is like a dry well.

unless the moon can create an atmosphere and there is evidence of water on the moon, we should be able too but only if those factors come into play
