Ah...the 'Ipswich question' no less...perhaps as it's close to Christmas, maybe they think expressing their sorrow might bring more punters to church over the season, rather than in clubs, clubs - and, bedamned...in beds with strangers wiling to part with their money for that - er - 'joy'.

Is is always the same when anything like this happens the so called religious groups come forward saying what a tragedy it is , but the fact is that it is most likely to be one of their own religious nutters who is doing the killing saying that god told him to do it, like peter sutcliffe and other mass murderers, and in a way he is only doing what the novel the bible tells him he should do because the diseased and lunatic minds you dreamed up all religions only have tolerance to people who bow down and grovel to non existent entities called gods and such like and anyone who deviates from this is anyway is an unbeliever and should be murdered, a good example of this is the way Bush and Blair are now attempting to rule the world with the help of the self same so called christian churches.

Probably cause its fashionable for them to show a little mercy to them over a serial killer... who everyone is afraid of encountering.
Like you say... The Salvation Army rules imo as a genuine charitable organisation. So do people involved with St.Johns Ambulance.
Anyway the Church will often stir up whatever is latest current event to try and reflect well on them. Ppl forget Church for a while... hmmm lets take a swipe at Islam and cause some controversy.
Don't ask me to make distinctions between religions... CoE and Catholism all same nonsense control-freaks to me.

It's to do with conversion and evangelism I believe nothing else, caring does'ent always enter into it, not in my experience.
The clash of different worlds you're talking about is class, I come from a stuck up (as you put it) middle class background too fortuantely I think for myself . Don't allow the chip on your shoulder to get the better of you eh. Not all christians are unsympathic about the girls plight. Helplessness sometimes makes people say silly things, just bear that in mind.

Not only have the condemned the trade, they have no doubt USED the trade.
Mind you, if a load of diseased and drug riddled prostitutes came and sat in on the pew next to ME, I'd think that God was punishing me for something!
But surely you already KNEW that the church was based on hypocrisy? What age are you for heaven's sake?

Because they can't be seen not to care when these awful things are going on.
@Laura2180 & Bow, Mary Magdelane was not a prostitute, that is slander that was spread by one of the popes back in history. He said it was so, so everybody believed it. It has since been repealed, I believe by John Paul II.

well it's like this, the act of prostitution is a thing to condemn, the reaching out to the person is admirable.I'm not promoting the church or it's practices. But for you to assail anyone reaching out to stem the cursed practice of sex for money is pretentious.

heres a bit of bible geek info... wasnt mary magdaline a prostitiute? she was one of the women that went to jesus' tomb when he was dead. its a bit hyporcritical considering christanity is all about forgivness and frinedship. no matter what them women have done they should not have died how they have and imagine how horrible it is for there familys hearing them described as that

I expect they will relate it back to the fact that Mary Magdalen was herself a prostitute and "jesus" befriended her and loved all his people the same....very contradictory!

one of my motto's is hate the sin not the sinner...Jesus befriended prostitutes, to help them he loves all people! everyone sins! that doesn't make it right but the church should accept everyone because in God's Eyes we are all equal and he loves us all!
