I have never read the book, only saw the MGM movie. I have always wondered why did dorthy live with her aunt and uncle.?

Was there ever a reason giving in the orginal book,.?

In the movie, it was never mentioned why Dorothy lived with her Aunt & Uncle. In the Oz books, it mentions that Dorothy Gale (her last name) was an orphan.

Nope never because it was not important and part of the script or movie.. Just like where was Ed Riding Hoods parents??
Or Cinderella's?

I guess all of them were Orphans..

Dorothy originally lived with her mother in West Philadelphia, but she got in one little fight and her momma got scared and said "you're moving in w/ ur auntie and uncle in Kansas"...
