Could a simple duple also be a half note or is it just quarter notes?

Duple means two beats per measure, so if one measure only had a half note, would that be considered a duple?

It really depends on the time signature doesn't it? 2 beat per measure would require a 2/4 time signature. In which case a half note or two quarter notes would equal one measure / bar.
