A "Hiatal Hernia" is the condition, where a portion of the base of your Esophagus and stomach slide up through your diaphram. Usually this happens when the hole in your diaphram is too large. This can bring about a whole list of secondary problems, from acid reflux disease, to Gastro-esophogeal erosion. It is definitely something to be concerned about, but not overly so. Typically, they push the stomach back down through the diaphram and then staple the diaphram a little tighter. Remember though, this is still surgery, so be careful with yourself.
