We had a small local park with the slide set on a slope so the top was still on ground level, made it easy to get your bike on to it.

I should point out it was only a small slide, not the tall ones. That would be too dangerous. And I was only 12 and it seemed like a very big deal.

To be honest it sounds like you have a distorted view of what happened. This happens a lot with pedestrians when they get hit by cars. It was likely he was driving at the speed limit otherwise he would have been arrested no question. Witness would have told police he was going to fast and your injuries would have been far more severe. This was a main road, so limit is 30 or 40? If he was driving above that you would have been knocked unconscious, have multiple fractures and have an extended stay in hospital. Luckily you've only got soft tissue injuries which will heal themselves. Also as this was a main road, cars have right of way. If you didn't look properly and were hit by a car on a road, you are in the wrong. You won't like my answer but I've seen it first hand enough times to know what speeds do what damage.

I have actually ridden a young LADY on a park slide.
But hey, that was the '70s. You would have to have lived them, to understand.
