PayPal is fairly secure. Your credit card number is encrypted with high security. You know this because the address bar has "https" instead of "http" and there might be a little lock at the bottom of your web browser.
Sure, nothing is 100% save on the internet. But my bet is that its just as safe as buying something in a store with your credit card. Make sure you are giving money to non-fraud organizations/individuals. If its over eBay, make sure the person has high positive feedback.

That website blows everything out of proportion. Read the horror stories and then read the PayPal agreements and policies. Make sure you fully understand the definitions...such as tangible and intangible goods. No, paypal is not a bank, no more than a credit card company is a bank. But, they work in much the same way as a credit card company, in the way money is handled. Remember, that the transaction is between you and the other party with whom the money is being exchanged, NOT paypal. Paypal only acts as a middleman; all parties on either side of the transaction are subject to the same rules equally as far as paypal is concerned. Know your rights, as well as your responsibilities to protect those rights. It cases where paypal does not protect you when you get ripped off, it was most likely a situation that a court of law could not help either. Example: If you ship something to someone, and do not get a signature; they have every right to say that it never arrived, even if you have delivery confirmation. In that case, paypal and most likely a court of law would give their money back to them. Proof of delivery only extends as far as the intent; a tracking number indicates that a package got delivered to this address on this day from a sender; nothing more. A signature indicates that this person or proxy received this package from this person. (Period) They have 2 options, inspect and sign or refuse; the key word in this scenario is acceptance - Business Law 101. The tools that you use, especially on the internet are only as effective as the person using them. Good Luck! And by all means, do your research.

There's always a risk in anything involving money--especially on-line. I can tell you that I've had Pay Pal for several years and not had one single problem.
Did you notice that www.paypalwarning.com is an alternative to Pay Pal? So, they have a reason for making people think Pay Pal is unsafe--it increases their own business. The stories seem to be from the users of Pay Pal and don't give Pay Pal's side of the story. I'm sure Pay Pal believes that they have a good reason for doing what they do. But, it could very well be that all the stories on their site are true. Personally, I would be more likely to trust Pay Pal than a company that has to tell horror stories about another company to drum up business.
Those are my thoughts and I think you are very wise to investigate and question it before you do it.

I've used PayPal for several years and I have had absolutely no problems with it. The main thing is that you need to remember to keep YOURSELF safe! Don't respond to phony (phishing) emails and things like that which ask for your passwords. Anyone should know by now that those are scams that will steal your money! And if using eBay, protect yourself and only buy from good sellers and sell to good buyers. Your account only gets frozen in a case when you have tried to deal with a thief or something like that. Protect yourself and always play it safe and you'll be fine. (And remember that if you ship something to someone, ship to their confirmed address and use delivery confirmation of some sort - otherwise you'll have no protection!) It may sound like a lot to remember, but it's quite easy. For more information, visit their web site. It isn't nearly as bad as some people would have you believe! Personally, I love it.

I have used pay-pal for 3 yrs now and never have had a problem with them. It is actually a safe way to make payments to another, or receive payments for items sold. E-Bay has offered Pay-Pal to their customers for years and would drop them quickly if there were problems.
