1. I regret to tell you that you are displaying your ignorance.
2. British postcodes are not like US zip codes. A postcode identifies a very small area which could be just one large building, or part, or all, of one street. Conventionally a postcode has two sections.
(a) The first part consists of one or (more usually) two alpha characters, plus two numerics. This identifies the town, or part of a larger town/city. The alpha characters identify the most important town in the area for the purposes of sorting mail.
(b) The second part consists of one numeric, plus two alpha characters. This identifies the street (or part of).
3. Here are some Surrey examples.
(a) The Royal Surrey County Hospital, in Guildford has a postcode of GU2 7XX. [Note that GU comes from Guildford.]
(b) Guildford College of Further & Higher Education, Stoke Park Campus has a postcode of GU1 1EZ.
(c) Reigate & Banstead Borough Council has a postcode of RH2 0SH. [RH from Redhill, I think.]
(d) Elmbridge Borough Council has a postcode of KT10 9SD. [KT from Kingston.]
4. If you have a specific address, you can find the exact postcode at the Royal Mail's website.
