except for the very rare people who's minds are deformed in some way , i would say everyone does need love - but not necessarily love that comes from any outside source (other people or god) - i think love originates within us - and we have a need to experience it - maybe even to nurture it - but we can do that in so many ways - i am thinking of a man who might have lived in the 1700's who chose to live the life of a hermit or mountain man - did he love? i think yes - maybe he loved nature or freedom but that is still love and that could meet the need he had - even if he never in his life shared it with any other human
and what about the people who live most of their lives with pets but no spouse / kids / family - do they love? again id say yes - and i dont think the love comes from the pets - it comes from them and they give it to the pets - the pets could be completely unfeeling or lets say unaware - and i think they often are unaware - or they do not return "love", as we know it - but that does not take anything from the love that the person gives to them - it doesnt lessen it or render it invalid - it is still just as real / powerful
in some ways love is a decision we make to care for something - or someone - we pick something / someone out and we decide we are going to do that for them - not consciously (usually) - but since we can decide to stop loving if we want to, then we must be deciding to start - it isnt something that "happens to us" - it is something we choose

Yes, everyone needs love to feel complete and they need to give love in return to feel whole. The love from your parents & a good spouse/friend can change your life! There were studies done a long time ago where they would put monkeys in a cage w/ two pretend monkey moms... one had a food source, but no hair or anything, just bare & cold... while the other pretend monkey had NO food but was furry and very inviting... well, the monkeys would always choose the monkey w/ the furr that was inviting... they might go to the pretend one w/ food for only moments, but they snuggled up to the one w/ furr that was more like a mommy. Also, Hitler thought he could create a race of killers by having babies after they were born put w/ mechanical parents... they would only meet their basic needs, but not give love or nurturing to these babies... he did this in the hopes that the babies would survive & be natural born killers b/c they did not know how to love, so they would not have a conscience. These babies died sadly. You see we all need love from the time we are born, until the time we die... it can help us survive. As you get older you can live w/out love, but it is a sad & lonely existence. God made us to give & have love... this makes us complete on every level. HTH & God bless!!!!!!!!!! :)

At some point in time yes all people do need love. First off you need to love yourself before you love someone else.

Yep. Back during WWII orphaned infants, housed in large hospital rooms, began dying for no apparent reason. They had been fed regularly, bathed, and generally kept in good health.
Eventually, the doctors and nurses realized that the only thing the infants were NOT receiving was attention. There were just too many of them and not enough care-takers.
It was later determined (I'm sure through some well-funded Harvard study) that being held and spoken to (insert here "loved") is crucial to human development.

Absolutely.
Humans basically cannot live without love and happiness. Love and happiness are like oxygen for human beings.
Love and happiness are the most basic things that everyone should have in their life. Many people look like they happy with their life, but 'behind the curtain' they are unhappy.... Many people pretend to be happy and loved inside them while they don't. This because love and happiness are very important. Until people fake themselves pretend have love and happiness in their life, because they know it's very substantial and basic for human longevity...
Because no matter how great you are,
no matter how talented you are,
no matter how influential you are,
no matter how famous you are,
no matter how rich and wealthy you are,
no matter how successful you are,
no matter how powerful you are,
no matter how perfect your family is,
no matter how beautiful and handsome you are,
no matter how religious you are.....
IF you don't have the real purity of love and happiness inside you, then practically none of those things mean anything to you.

Wow, tough question. In what form? I mean I think that to not have a totally hard heart you need to be loved by some sort of human, whether it be dog, cat, mother, daughter, dad. You need to know that someone cares for you in some way, don't you think?

If they are to be non-sociopaths, yes, people need love when they are young children. The less love you get as a child, the less you feel you need when you are older. (And the more sociopathic you are.) But all people always desire it desperately.

On the outset, I'd say yes but there are those who have been spurned by love so they tell themselves that they could do without it.
