We have all heard it. "It's a cold and it's a broken Halleleujah". It's a calm, sad song. and I have had it on my list of things to buy or download for some time now.

The original version of this song appears on the Leonard Cohen album Various Positions.

It was covered by many artists such as Rufus Wainright and Jeff Buckley. More covers include (some are downloadable):

I like that song. My favorite version is sung by Rufus Wainwright. I know it can be found on the "Shrek" soundtrack. Not sure if you can get it elsewhere.

It's a cover, but it's an excellent one. I've listened to the original, and honestly the original singer sounds like he's stoned when he's singing.

It's a Leonard Cohen song. The complete lyrics are on his website (see source).

John Cale does a great version of it, too.

There are many different people who sing this. However, I believe the best one to be Rufus Wainwright, who sang it for the Shrek soundtrack. He has the saddest voice of them all.

As others have said, Leonard Cohen, or, my particular favorite version (the one that debuted on the episode of Scrubs), John Cale. Good luck finding it!
