I'm a truly proud Canadian, but why do I care so much about what Americans think of us and our culture? Why do I take it personally when Canada is (occasionally) bashed in the US television media? I'm so proud of what we as a Canadian nation have acccomplished with public healthcare, bilingualism, a strong economy (member of G8).

Why is American acknowledgement so important to me? Inferiority complex?

Constructive and intelligent answers only please.

I would not call it an inferiority complex, but a sense of frustration. It is amazing how Americans (many, not all) are oblivious about anything and anyone who is not American or someone they are at war with. I am sure they come by it honestly from just a lack of education in world affairs.

in case you seem into it, you'll locate Canada leads the international for the period of a wide spectrum of metrics. yet at the same time as Canadians superb perfect those who mistakenly imagine the U. S. is the superb at each little thing, that's chalked as a lot as a pair mythical inferiority complicated. that's downright uncomplicated. after all: considering at the same time as does a 1st position finisher ever experience not just about as good as someone who places third or worse? That for sure leads to accusations on the different end of the spectrum: -That Canadians have a superiority complicated because we are doing so nicely for ourselves. that's basically as uncomplicated considering there is not any rule that asserts anybody else yet Canadians are allowed to be proud, satisfied and grateful that Canada's this kind of success as a rustic and human beings.

You have no reason to feel inferior to anyone, any Country or anything. So just stop. Be proud of where you are from and what our great Country stands for.
