What ideas do you have for decorating and such?

Would a dinner of turkey with all the trimmings be overkill? Or does the menu even need to "match"?

i think the dinner ideal would simplify alot of things...which maybe what you want...i would look up the renassaince festival sites and see what they have as far as decorating ideas....that era is one of music and knights and should be celebrated as such...you may even if you want to get into it go to the local high school and maybe see if you can get some assistance with music from the band...not the whole band but it may contribute to be a learning experience for them...teach them a little history while creating a mood for your wedding...anyway good luck hope i helped a little ...

The TURKEY was NOT a part of a medieval Christmas feast -- it was mostly fresh game of the time (including Goose, and Pork)

Its your wedding, I think you could go with whatever you want to go with. I mean I can not see everyone eating with their hands and tearing up wild game for this feast, so if you want to have a nice sit down, utensils included meal of turkey or whatever you would like, its your big day to make it as you wish.
