Can and should are two totally different things...

Either party husband or wife can check the others phones, but if they trusted each other they shouldnt. Its a building block of a relationship.

If one party feels they have to check it to get information then there is already a problem in the relationship and the checking of a phone is a moot point!

Handphones? Aren't all cell phones used with one's hand bar Bluetooth. Anyway, if you can't trust her, I'd say you are in more trouble than just wondering about checking her cell phone.

Suppose you do that and find something out. What's next? Either way you have lost her trust. Leave it be or just outright ask her if she's sleeping around. I'm sure you can tell if she's lying.

Sounds like you married the wrong girl and you already answered your question.

you know what? if you have to check each others phones then theres a question about trust on both of your parts, and if you have to question trust then your love for each other isnt worth the paper ur cell phone bill is printed on.

Who is "they"? I will check my wife's phone if I want to and she is free to check mine. One thing about trust is it's a lot easier to be trustworthy if you know you are being watched.

Who the heck are "they"? I believe in this philosophy when it comes to marriage...said by either spouse "What's yours is mine and what's mine is mine."

There should be no secrets in a marriage and any and everything should be open to your spouse whenever. But if that is carried to an obsessive level without cause it is time to rethink your relationship.
