When I was in labour with my first child I had to be cut twice (one down either side) and I dont feel a thing. It took them a while to heal after the birth but when I had my other children the scar didnt even tear.
I know it seems painful but it isnt it just makes an awful sound.

I was not cut and I'm glad I tore naturally with both my children and it burnt a little but it was more a relief. It lasted only a few seconds. I was told that if they do cut you they give you local anesthetic there to ease the pain when cutting. I would much prefer to tear then be cut any day. With my son I had a water birth so having the water soften my skin before the tear it didn't hurt as much as the second time. Hope this helps and good luck.

I had an episiotomy with both my daughters. With the first, I did feel it but that was because they had turned off my epidural at that point and had to do the cut quickly because the cord was around my daughters neck. It only felt like a mild burning but, I didn't really care because all I wanted was to get my baby out safely. With the second, they cut along the old one. I didn't feel a thing and I know for a fact that they used the local anesthetic because I saw the big needle. If you obsess about the pain you're going to feel, you're going to be worse off then if you just go with the flow.

i haven't had any children yet but all of my friends do, some had the episiotomy and some didn't, a few of the ones who didn't ended up tearing and i've read conflicting reports on which heals better and which may cause any problems, I would imagine tearing hurts more when it happens cause the probably numb you a little there before they cut. If you want to try and avoid both, ask your dr. I read somewhere there is a way you or probably your partner (hard to reach for you) can massage your perineum and make it more flexible and able to stretch, you can also ask the dr. if it is possible to wait and only have him cut if absolutly necesary. good luck and congrats,

yes i had an episiotomy. No, you dont feel it when the doc actually does it. They wait for you to have a contraction and cut then. I didnt realise it had been done at all.
I did feel a little uncomfortable having the stitches done afterwards though. They give you a local anaesthetic needle so it's not pain you feel, just tightening of the skin and pressure.
I wont lie, the stitches really really hurt for about a week after and you will feel uncomfortable with them for about 4-6 weeks after.

I have to say it's a big difference from not being cut. After the delivering you really don't want to touch the area too much because of the pinching feeling after delivery. Its something that will get better as the weeks go by. Also if you have this done use peroxide pads it make the area heal quickly.

If you mean has anyone been cut during the delivery portion of the labour then no you cannot really feel it as that whole area becomes quite numb because of the stretching.

I got cut...it was 5 yrs ago....I had an epidural...from what I remember...it felt like if you flicked or pinched the skin in between your index finger and thumb...but like I said it was 5 yrs ago for me...My baby I am pregnant with now is due January 9th...so I am really hoping I do not tear or need to be cut...because, the stitches itch like you would not believe...

You type of responded your own question exertions is the worst soreness that a good type of girls say they ever felt no longer the worst soreness that anybody else ought to or has ever felt. the biggest distinction is women have the first baby unaware of the reality going into it lower back understanding is the authentic attempt perhaps this can help i heard getting kicked contained in the NADS hurts would you enable someone to kick you there for 15 hours or with the purpose to have a baby understanding what the soreness is like it truly is basicly what we register for. that's the purely right i visit describe it to a male wish it helps.

I wasn't cut but I tore the first time. I didn't even know because I had the epideral. But they almost cut me. They would have given me a shot for extra numbing first ... so I'm sure it wouldn't have been a big deal. It is better to be cut than tear. Don't stress out.
