and put it in my 500mhz emachine. My question is that, can I just add the stick of RAM 128 mb to an empty slot in my emachine(it is only 64 mb of RAM) so that I will have a total of 192 mb of RAM, or do I have to remove the 64 mb of ram from my emachine, and replace it with 128 MB of RAM...I don't wan to screw anything up. If anyone has done this...please explain and tell me how...any tips will be helpful

They should work. But go to http://crucial.com and use their look up tool for both machines and see that the two machines did use the same type of ram.

If they did then the only thing you have to worry about is the ram speed. Ram is made to be backwards compatible. That is they will default down the the slowest piece of ram or cpu. The ram can have a higher speed than the cpu, but never lower.

Also if you can use it, put the 128 in the slot where the 64 is now and the 64 in the empty slot. You will benifit from the 128 more that way.

byw I'm using a 500mhz processor right now with a 256mb pc133 and a 64mb pc100 module. Have been for 5 years, no problems.

It should not mess anything up. It is really not good to mix different sizes but i have done it in the past. Plus it might not work at all. Make sure you blow out your computer with a can of air while you have it open and clean out your power suppy fan and your cpu fan.
