The whole bunch needs to step down in my opinion! This is the worst administration I have seen in all my years! I will be glad when this president's term is up! I hope it will not be too late for the country to recover from the damage that has been done! Yes, I was glad to see Rumsfeld leave!

I picked up a blurb somewhere...
blurb said sigh of relief was heard within ten mile radius of Pentagon when Rumsfeld resigned.
He looks like mean*** boss in some places I worked in a long time ago when American still had factories.
I've met the type.
He had his underlings cowed.
The GENERALS have been just plain "blah".
No colorful Generals......like Patton.
Just these guys in Green Suits that drone unemotionally cause they afraid Rumsfeld gonna jump in their **** so they better get it right.

Just like the mean*** boss in the factory.
Gone is good.

I think Rumsfeld did what he was hired to do and was "hung out to dry" as the President's Scapegoat when the people spoke of their
discontent. I think he did his job and did it to the best of his ability.

I'm delighted he is gone. His smarmy arrogance will not be missed. He will go down as the McNamara of the Republican Party!! The Republicans used to brag about how only the Democrats started wars. It'll be a long time before they can drag out that old chestnut!!

I don't think Rumsfeld is to blame, he is just the fall guy for the entire administration that has made many mistakes. They tried to cover one with another. Now we're in deep, we'll be there for years, and most importantly, we are losing fathers, brothers, sons, husbands, lovers. It's such a tragedy. We need a MUCH BETTER plan (er's)!

A war mongering yes man. Not a good Sec. Def at all. If he had listened to advice from real military people like Colin Powell, the Generals on the ground and at the pentagon, He could have been a very good leader. But he didn't. And he managed to make himself one of the worst.

He did the worst job in history. He was totally sold on his own wisdom. He failed to listen to others including experts in field and military leaders currently in the military.
He would not change course even though almost everything he did was a mistake. He gave his farewell address still trying to justify his behavior and his correctness in starting and fighting the Iraq War and leading the military establishment.
He goes down as the most arrogant Defense Secretary in history, even worse than McNamara which is saying something.

I'm glad he's gone. Poetic justice would be him being sent to Baghad to run patrols with insufficient armor and a lack of a coherent strategy.

Very very glad he's gone. It takes one of the evil administration out of the equation.. Now if the others would just go with him, everyone would be better off.

He has served our country under many presidents and deserves our respect. There is nothing to suggest he loves war. He has done the best job he could under such unprecedented conditions. If I were in his position, I think I would be relieved to get this break. The pressure is way beyond what most of us can take. I respect everyone with such heavy responsibilities.

You want the job??
