my 7 week old son takes 40 mins (sometimes 90 mins) to finish 4 oz of milk. Is this okay?

In how much time does a baby normally finishes 4 oz of milk? Any tips on how to make him drink faster. I have already switched to level 2 nipple.

Mine took the same time. He is just like that, don't worry, he will get better with time. By the time he is 10 months he will suck it in 5 minutes. My baby was like that for about 3 months. Just be patient.

Wait until he is really hungrey...it sounds like he is not hungrey enough & when they are not many babies will get distracted & eat super slow! Also 7 weeks is way to young for a stage 2 nipple, he may be having problems with that flow too. Take him in a quite dimmed room when he is cring to eat & feed him from a stage 1 nipple. I think he will eat much faster.

I actually have the opposite happening. Since my son has been home from the hospital (he's 10 weeks old) he finished off 125ml in like 10min flat. I'm keeping him on the newborn teats until he can learn to slow down. Have you tried tickling his feet or under his chin? I've been told that that can help sometimes.

Can he stick his tongue out? Can you lift his upper lip up and away from his gums in a similar way to yours? If you said no to either he is tongue tied and needs to have that treated.
