I've looked in stores and online and all I can find are too-formal evening wear or too casual "work" day wear. As family and with my young children in the wedding, I feel a little more pressure to dress appropriately. The reception is a lunch buffet. I'm in my mid-30s and slim and on a stay-at-home mom budget. Links are extra appreciated!

PS - Personally, I don't think anything black or pants are my style for an afternoon wedding and I"m more of a Lord & Taylor style (although not in budget) then Forever 21.

my suggestion would be a dress around knee-length with simple heels. i attended an afternoon wedding recently with the reception going into the evening and i wore a black halter dress with a nice shawl (i picked the dress out from body central - $30 bodyc.com). the shawl toned down the dress. Body Central has a few nice special occasion dresses for a low price.

You can find a simple, black dress to wear just about any where. I would suggest something long since it will be winter.

try;

a nice black pant with a nice dress top (white or some other color) with a goood trench or pea coat that goes past your knees and matches your loook. & top it off with a great booot.

the thing that will look cute on you is a halter red dress with flats or a black trench coat with black pant and a black shirt under the coat you could go to forever 21
