Is this behavior normal, or is the baby being overly attention seeking?

It might be teething or stranger anxiety or baby might be coming down with cold or something. They go through phases like this for a week or so then things get back to normal. I would cuddle him/her a lot, spend lots of time with baby on the floor crawling and playing along. That might make some difference.hope that helped.

You could try, if the baby isn't too old or heavy, to try a front carrying pouch, Like a Snugli carrier. You can actually 'wear' your baby, if that helps. if you hold them all the time, you really don't get anything done, but if you wear him, you can get things done and frees up your arms. You can try that if you want.
Here is a Product I found on the internet. Hope this helps.

at ten months babies have started recognising details such as this is mummy and i want only mummy. when younger they will allow anyone to hold them but as they get older they'll want you more. You can try distracting him with toys that are brightly coloured and make noises. A good idea would be to hang something musical above his pram that the baby can reach and hit. Good luck

I think it is normal. She just wants to be with you. Enjoy while you can. I know some times is difficult, we can not be there every single minute of the day, but, then if you think of that, why not? This will last while they are young then they will be on their own. Again, enjoy it while it last.
