Life is supposed to present you challenges, and living is how you handle those challenges. The more struggles you have in life, the more you learn, and the more you experience life.

If you had everything handed to you and if everything was easy, your journey would be extremely boring, and you wouldn't develop character nor would you gain life experience.

For instance, the general public believes that Paris Hilton is vapid and clueless. Chances are she has not had to work for much of anything in life. That doesn't make her any less valuable as a human being, but it certainly does make her less experienced than someone who has had to work for everything they have.

As for living it the wrong way, as long as you are not maliciously harming other people, I think you are probably OK. Be good to yourself and others, and you'll be fine. :)

Life is fun--just because you never know what is going to happen. There are no promises made that everything will be easy, and earning the things you would like to have makes you appreciate them all that much more. I like that we have lots of people come and go in our lives. Social skills are developed that way---some are hard lessons that we learn about people. We eventually discover that the best way to live is with integrity, honesty, respect, and some form of faith. You get out of life what you put into it. It isn't always nice but in the long run we benefit from our mistakes and hardships. We are given what we can handle..I believe that. You don't offer any details but you are free to change what you don't like...even if it means moving to a better area or changing jobs, or meeting a new group of friends. We are responsible for our own selves. We do it all to ourselves--no one does it to us. The two easiest words to live by---BE NICEI hope you got something out of this essay---good luck and happy holiday

Everything life deals us has a purpose that we may or may not ever figure out. If it is a hard life - you were meant to live it - means you are strong enough to do so. Don't despair, take every minute of every day as it comes and keep your eyes and ears open for the moment when it gets easier - it will come when the purpose causing your life to be difficult is fulfilled.

You can come up with a million reasons of how your life sucks, and so can I.
Attitude is everything. Be enthusiastic, help others and have fun.
Use what gifts you have been given to the best of your ability.
You decide how you think, feel, and act, no person can take that away from you.
Bottom line: "Help others and have fun."
Then, life wont seem so hard after all.

Thumbs up! Great question.....
Hmmmm...aside from all of the religious crap you hear about suffering in this life to find happiness over the rainbow, I think that Life is much easier in these days and because of that it is harder.

When the pioneers were struggling with crop failure and getting snowbound in passes they had more to worry about than "does everybody like me? Will I find Mr. Right?" etc
We ask will my child go to college, and they asked if their child would live through the night.
So Yes, you are living it the way this entire generation is.
Sweet Dreams

Life is hard. It's hard for everyone. I have my good days, and I have plenty of bad ones. And recently, lots of them have been inbetween. I doubt you're living your life the "wrong way." I believe that loving yourself, your God and your neighbor is the key to a happy, healthy life.

I also thought this was cool and that you might want to check it out if you haven't seen it already. It made me smile (and it's great advice!)

Life is meant to teach us lessons.Life is meant to enrichen us and teach us how to be better people and how to treat people better. As long as a path is to easy it will not ever teach us a lesson. You cannot live life the wrong way as long as you do the right things you will have good karma.

dear Sweatbum,

Life is full of terrible things, i have gone through so much myself often questioning my existence and if it is really worth living. Human life goes through humility, embarassment, shame, death, depression etc. Some lead a harder life than others, but eventually you'll meet people that will be able to have you lean on them whenever you need it. There is always hope.Hope to hear from you.

I wonder this a lot myself...I guess we all have to decide that on our own. I find that sometimes difficult experiences teach us things that we wouldn't learn otherwise.

I'm not sure what you're going through, but I think this quote is relevant:

"Everything will be ok in the end. If it's not ok, it's not the end"
