You can delete your virus protection program and install other ones that are more effective. I suggest you get Norton antivirus or Mccafe. These will really protect your computer against viruses.

I suggest that you try to carryout system restore to a day previous to the day when there was no virus or any problems. It may be a few weeks or months back. You have to decide the date. Detailed instructions are posted at http://fixit.in/systemrestore.html
The problem is likely to be solved. Then,You insatll a standard antivirus soft ware such as Norton, AVG , Avast ( free antivirus software and Ad-aware, Ewido ( free spyware removers). You can download free softwares at
http://fixit.in/antivirus.html and http://fixit.in/spywareremover.html

Don't delete it .. uninstall it and dont buy anymore..go to trendmicro online..its a free virus scan and it is updated everyday .. Also when you get a virus..guess what program it infects first? If you guessed your antivirus program you guessed correctly.I never have installed and run free virus scan online for many years.. and never had virus trouble..the antivirus programs have been my only trouble...thats the ones that were installed.. lol

you can delete or uninstall your anti-virus
but i would replace with a more effective one since yours isnt doing that great (as you state)
you will want to keep your new anti-virus up todate and do full scans tho
