Jealousy can make you work and try harder in order to have what you want. It can be a motivator.
But then again, it can cause you to break the law (steal) to get what you want also.

Jealousy is an emotion which is natural in most of us when we are born it is firstly a parents job to make us share our toys lollies etc.As we get older we should be in control of this emotion and avoid using it to hurt others when we are in a relationship .Anyone who sets out to make another person jealous is not mature or a nice person with whom to have a relationship esspesially if you want it to last.

its been a long time since ive felt jealousy. when i did it was usually over someone having things through cheating the system then anything else. eg. false compensation claims. now i have the attitude, 'what goes around comes around' eventually they will get what they deserve and hence my jealousy is no longer.

I think that the main purpose of jealousy is to enable people to be able to look at themselves and improve themself after comparing themselves to other people or to bring down their self esteem.

Not a practical purpose, but an evolved purpose. The thing is, do not let it get morbid on you.

we tend to be jealous when our self esteem is sort of law, so we feel threatened
it also has to do with how secure we are, if you are not very, you tend to be possessive so you don't lose the one\thing that you love, just have more confidence and jealousy will disappear

The purpose for jealousy is to give us purpose - give us something to strive for, to fight for, to live for.
