To tell the truth, I don't know a thing about make up.
I mean, I'm a teenage girl!
Introduce me to the basics? :)

The best advice I can give as a makeup professional are these three things. One, get good quality makeup that won't clog your pores. Cover Girl, Maybelline, Revlon, and other drugstore brands all have fragrance in them and that can really irritate your skin. One brand of cosmetics you can get in a drugstore that I will recommend, however, is Physician's Formula. It won't clog your pores and it's easy to use. If you can find mineral makeup at a salon or day spa in your area, that's the BEST stuff to use! it's pretty expensive, but you use less of it than grocery store stuff.

Two, when you start to experiment with makeup, use a light hand. Don't be tempted to cake it on, because less always looks better on younger skin. Heavy makeup is best only when you're in the school play and you need all that makeup so the back row can see your pretty eyes!

Three, always take your makeup off at night. It's tempting to just fall asleep without washing, but it'll just cause a lot of pimples and dirty pillowcases. Wash once with a creamy cleanser to get your makeup off, then a mild foamy cleanser to clean your pores. Follow with a light moisturiser. In the daytime, ALWAYS wear a sunscreen under your makeup. That way you won't look old and wrinkly before you turn 30!

A fun thing to do is find a professional makeup artist (or beauty school!) in your area and see her/him for neat tips and several different looks. Take a friend and make a fun day of it!

Mascara will do wonders alone. Get a black mascara and see what a difference that does to start. Get some blush a shade or two lighter than your skin. If you have red undertones, get a pinkish shade. If you have golden/yellow undertones, get an orange/brownish shade. Lip gloss is sublte, but makes your lips looks nice. I suggest using a natural eyeshadow if you are just starting to wear makeup. Also, skip the eyeliner for now until you get used to the other stuff. If you break out, get a concealor or foundation stikc (those are the easiests and less messy things to apply). Lastly, set your make up with a light face powder.

I have four sisters.

Check it:

1. Choose colors that accent your natural hair, skin, and eye color.

2. Stay away from anything VERY expensive - just a rip off.

3. Go to a few salons and popular department stores where they have makeup artists on hand to help you out.

4. Avoid extreme color patterns.

5. Don't over do it.

6. If you want the make-up to stay, apply a sound foundation to start, then add the out layers.

Cheers!
EA

okay heres what i do:
1. mosturize my face with a lotion
2. apply either foundation or concealer. whichever you use
3. i use a correcter (bobby brown) which has pinkish tones and then a concealer (bobby brown) which was yellowish tones. these two tones balance out and make it look like skin color.
4. i apply a blush to the apples of my cheeks
5. i apply eyeliner to the bottom of my eyes. use a color that accents your eyes but is also appropriate for the time of day. i use a bluish grey but i have blue eyes
6. apply one color on your lids all the way up to your brows. and one color only up to the crease.
7. apply mascara to TOP lashes only!
8. maybe a lip color if you need it
Then youre done! good luck!

ok im a teen too but i started young and i fell in love with beauty. Okay color for eye shadow or something light to start out with, never never wear yellow, or dark colors. A real light purple is best, water prook mascara by revlon is the only good kind, and mary kay does wonders with eye shadow, blue eye liner is in right now, but not to dark, start out with black on just the bottom. If you can get to victoray secret they will teach you everything about make up just ask. But no girl really needs make up, we just like it. Blush isnt that great but if you have acne make sur you get your skin color in cover up. Dont get liquid make up it is messy and tacky. Any other questions just email me stoners_are_funny@yahoo.com

The best and easiest to apply make up and use (at least for me) has been Bare Essentials (bare mineral make-up) - very very easy and they have free booklets that come with their kits that explain and show everything. They have both foundation make up and eye shadow, etc.. And it lasts all day without smudging! For future reference: For a natural look (Audrey Hepburn) - use beige eye shadow, a thin line of black eyeliner (optional), 2 coats of mascara, and biegy pink lipgloss, For a timeless look (Princess Diana) -use taupe eye shadow, brown eyeliner, brown-pink lipstick; For a sultry Sophia Loren look (its all about the eyes) - use black eyeliner, copper and brown eye shadow blended together brushed on just the lid up to your crease area , several coats of mascara, and light lipstick - or pearlized grey over entire lid, black eye shadow up to the crease, charcoal grey from crease up and sheer lipstick; or For a Marilyn Monroe look (its all about the lips)- use lots and lots of mascara and intense red lipstick.

It's almost impossible to explain that in writing. You might find a makeup counter at a department store and ask them to show you how to apply it. They would probably love that. I think it's free and you don't have to buy anything unless you want to.
