Well, some people may not know where to look on the internet. I cannot tell you the number of times I have had family and friends attempt to look up something on the internet and become barraged with a multitude of results.
I can understand that it can be frustrating to see people ask perceivably "silly" questions but that is what Yahoo Answers is all about. Its a place where you can go to get answers when you dont know where else to find them.
Dont let the 10% here who are "tards" discourage you. People have questions and you could possibly be the only person who can provide an answer that actually helps them.

Why did you sign into yahoo answers if you didn't want to ask or find the answers to questions dimwit? You are by far in the category of the planets biggest idiots and should not use this website to be unhelpful or rude to others

That would be too easy and too dull. Don't you agree that you get some pretty colorful responses here? Some probably just want the interaction, or perhaps are searching for someone to tell them what they want to hear, rather than the actual facts....but I must agree, sometimes I just cut and paste 10 links that I easily found by typing in a smple keyword in my browser...could be too that they're just lazy and want someone else to do the work!!

Couldn't you look up the answers online for this??? Look at the high school graduation rates, average american IQ, etc.

or
2.) To create sensationalism and start a conversation due to lack of friends, a social life and extreme boredom
