I was born before the end of WWII. Before television and gasoline was then 11 cents per gallon. My brother and I would set at the table in the kitchen listening to Gunsmoke on the radio and wide eyed as we could hear the foot steps of Matt Dillon opening the Saloon doors and walking in to confront an outlaw. My Grandmother would read to me the Mickey Mouse comic books as I sat in her lap. These are wonderful memories in a neighborhood where everyone in the block was so very friendly and you knew each by their first name. I could go to the movies down the street a few blocks and I would take a quarter. Ten cents to get in, ten cents for a big coke, and a nickel for popcorn.
I was born in January or 1945.
