He appears to be somewhat above it all.
Which is a good thing in my opinion.
Some people are like that.
If he picks good advisors that would compensate for lack of experience.
He doesn't have to lean over maps with the Generals and crunch numbers with Economists.
He can select and direct.
If he has that leadership quality.
The way to find out would be to put him in the White House.
I am more comfortable Obama than I am with Hillary.
Although I would vote for the BORG QUEEN before I voted for a Republican.
And I doubt he has a whole lot of "baggage".
He already stated publicly that he has smoked marijuana and done cocaine.
And he tried the angry black man thing which did not suit his personality.
People that know him and some who have known him since college state that he has a talent for understanding both sides of issue/argument. He really gives both sides a lot of thought. And tries to find middle ground.
Which could be detrimental in an emergency.
But good advisors that he trusts can push the buttons in those situations.
Got two years to think about it.

With a name like his - the first thought that comes to my mind is he's an Arab. Not good. As a candidate for president, at this time he doesn't bring much if anything to the table. He hasn't introduced any significant legislation, hasn't chaired or even been on any truly significant Congressional committees - actually he hasn't done much in the Senate to this point. What he has done is give a dynamic speech at the 2004 Democratic convention and written a book. This isn't presidential material and it will be a big mistake on his part if he runs. However, what he has done is still more than the current occupant of the Oval Office did before he was appointed, then elected. He couldn't even get elected to the House of Representatives when he ran! Obama needs to serve as vice president before he even thinks about being president.

I would rather see Mitt Rodney run. He is a republican but a very far to the left republican. Most conservations will not elect him. Because he is pro choice, Anti-illegal, Pro gay rights. Has turned the state of MA around. Brought in Jobs etc. This is a man with a proven track record that doesn't think like your typical Republican. After Bush this might just be what American needs.

Not much experience & unfortunately Osama always comes to my mind. Osama Obama.
He seems very intelligent & personable. Maybe in 6-8 years he will be ready for a serious president run. Hillary needs more experience & a better personality.

In my opinion, he not only brings up the possibilty of making history by becoming the first African American President, but he brings with
him the views of the lower and working middle class. For those of u who don't know, he has lived in the projects by choice for over 10yrs.(don't remember exact #, but it's like 12 I think), to become more aware of the struggles that the ordinary person live with every
day...I think we should have all our politicians live in these circumstances to prove that they really are "for the people." Then
maybe they would do more to bring the low living standards allowed today to a truly more comfortable level.
His name makes me think of a person meditating, cross-legged,
and finger to thumb....lol.

Anyone who has the intelligence and integrity - and therefore the qualifications to ;be President of the United States of America - would be ashamed and embarrased to call him/herself a Democrat. But the Dems haven't had a good choice since Truman, and it was a different party then.
What comes to mind is... as usual, they're reaching for style rather than substance.

Fresh face and new ideas. On the down side an aging population may have trouble identifying with him.
As for his name, I think about the percentage of Americans who cannot pronounce his name.

1 - Pretty (ALWAYS good for a politician; hint: look at the women interviewed after meeting him - they look star-struck!)
2 - Very articulate.
3 - Sounds reasonable (whatever that means (especially since he's fairly far left)).
4 - Doesn't play the race card with white folks (this is IMPERATIVE for any serious black candidate and is a significant source of white folks' support for him).
5 - Good at dodging substantive questions (no matter as it's not time yet for answering serious questions).
6 - Lastly, his name first made me ask "Who were his parents?"

Not experience, that is for sure. He's a new face, outside the typical people we think of. I've done some research. This guy is far left. I would never vote for him, for that reason. First thing I think of when I hear his name, "Poor Guy." I can imagine all the crap he hears about that, but that's not going to gain him my support.
