A ring tone is what you hear when someone calls you. A ringback tone is what they hear when they call you.

a ring tone is a choice of music for you to hear when the person calls. A ring back tone is a choice of music that plays while the person is calling you. Instead of the person hearing the usual ring-ring-ring they'll hear some beyonce, or some akon.

Ring Tone-A ring tone is what you hear when someone calls you. It's in your cellphone and is not dependent upon service provider.
Ring Back Tone(RBT)-A ringback tone is what they hear when they call you.RBT is not cellphone compatible rather it's service operator dependant bcoz it's saved at related service operator server.

I hate the sound of a telephone ringing... any ring tone.. Mine is exactly set to vibrate.. It vibrates for texts, vibrates for calls, & when I set it for my morning alarm lower than my pillow.... It vibrates. ;)

Both answers are correct. As for me I defenetly prefer ring back, for I enjoy agrivating people who call me with MY music.
