Yes you can, make sure you have at least 50 gallons and 4 tiger barbs, I would recommend 6 to be safe.

best way to do this is to make sure silver sharks and silver dollars are somewhat big (not young tiny one!) and you get really young (tiny) tiger barbs.

Once you have the tiger barbs, keep close eyes. Yes they will occassionally nip at other fish, but make sure they're not literally chasing other fish aroud or nip everything else often. If they bothers other specie, watch careful to see if it's whole school or only one or two. If it's only one or two, take them back to store and get other one or two. Keep close eyes on them for few weeks and keep close eyes on all of your fish fins.

And DON'T put angel fish in with any barbs! barbs would chew angel fish up.

Tiger barbs are notorius fine nippers. Whatever you do, DO NOT keep them with angels as emily suggests. Angels would literaly be picked to death by tiger barbs. Many people say that if you keep tiger barbs in a large enough school they will be ok, but i still think it's a big risk to keep them with other fish that are slow moveing or very finny.

Personaly, i keep tiger barbs in a species only tank. 3 red tigers, 3 green tigers, 3 blue tigers, 4 albino tigers and 5 original tiger barbs. It's a great display.

Most barbs including tiger barbs are considered fin nippers. This means that they will chase other fish around the tank and occassionaly nip at their fins causing damage.

Because of this you don't want to keep them with slower fish such as silver dollars.

However this can be done if you have a large enough tank (55 gallons or larger) and are able to have 4-6 barbs in the tank. By having a school of the they tend to focus their chasing on each other and leave the other fish alone.

Some Tiger Barbs are aggresive and some are not...you never will know until you put them in your tank!

Good luck and happy holidays!
