It is clear that the shift linkage is no longer in proper alignment. But the little bump you had shouldn't have any real bearing on the linkage. It sounds to me like you may have hit hard enough for your engine and/or transmission to shift, possibly a loose or broken motor mount.
Start by checking the security of the mounts and the alignment of the engine and transmission. Are there any signs of movement? Are there any sign of shifting due to missing rubber in the mount?
These are simple matters. Things to look at.

Good Luck and Merry Christmas

Not a disaster,but a definite issue.
Sounds like you've simply gotten the linkage mis-com-bob-u-
lated....as my father used to say.
Proper adjustment is a job best left to a good mechanic, not a rank amature.
It is a safety concern & should be addressed ASAP.

Check your linkage at the transmission. You could have knocked it out of place so that the gears don't line up right.
