The origin of Santa Claus is from Germany, spawning from the name St. Nicholas. Some of the other names like Kris Kringle, etc. come from Germany as well. There are plenty of different ethnic backgrounds in Germany today, but at the specific point in time where the legend of Santa originated it would be highly unlikely that he would belong to anything other than an Anglo Saxon ethnicity.

I think it's pretty safe to say that Santa Claus is white.

seechSanta is a a shape changer and has the same ability of the squid to blend in: red, yellow, green you name it. i like to call the old dude Santa claws cause of the record Cheech and Chong did in 1970. Santa does a lot of reefer so that is why is checks and rudolph's nose gets so red. it is a wonderful story that has done more good than the churches and the salvation army. just the idea of jolly old st. nick. a good influence. a role model for the young men and women working the streets.

First, why does it matter? Why do people always have to bring race into everything? *sigh*

Secondly, since Santa Claus has never been seen anywhere by anyone, he could be any race (colour) you want him to be. In fact, HE could actually be a SHE, if you so choose.

If you're referring to the colour of his clothes, it's popularly believed that it is red velvet with white fur trim. And it doesn't matter what colour his skin is, but he WILL have a red nose from living at the North Pole. It's COLD up there! ^^;

St. Nicholas was European (German, I think) so the actual man is/was white. But I think the spirit of Santa does not have a specific color. He is whatever we want him to be.

+ Santa is all colors to all people. No one can tell racially what color because he is the giver to the poor and that can be any or all of us. I guess you might say he is racially ambidextrous.
How Cool is that
