well, as a guitarist in a band, and as a guitar instructor....

i'm not really into rap music mostly. it doesnt really feature my favorite instrument much, and as someone who listens to music and learns as much of it as possible as a job, i dont really get into music thats "cut and paste". while the vocalists are sometimes genuinely talented and innovative, they almost always rap over a tape of drums and a bassline that was played once, and then just played over and over on a loop.... if you really listen to it, you can hear the difference from live musicians to prerecorded loops, which sound false after.

more rap groups should have a live backing band! if you're gonna put 5 or 6 guys on stage, make them learn instruments too!

This new kind of hard rock that's come out where people open their mouths and scream, but not a real rock scream like "Yeeeeeahhhhh!" , but a hoarse, ugly sound. It's not pretty, it's just grating on the ears and awful to listen to. I can appreciate most everything, even if it's not my taste, but that cannot be called music.

For example- go to Youtube and listen to AFI's "Miss Murder". It's a lovely, really cool song, and then there it is, at 2:30 minutes in, that awful form of singing that cannot even be called singing. Not only do I hate hearing it, but I feel sorry for the singer's poor throat.

Other than that, I like everything.

i'm not being racist though, because most of the people in those genres are african american [i guess].. they are really original people, i just don't like that type of genre...

i like rock, though!! =)
