My DVD writer is acting werid! I go to burn a movie to a blank DVD and it doesn't work. When i eject the disc, I can still access the driver useing My computer folder even thorugh there is no disc in the drive. This is not spose to happen- what is wrong? and SONIC RECORD NOW cant find the driver it says that now driver exists.

how do you unplug the IDE cable from the DVD drive?

i would go to device manager and uninstall the dvd player, restart and let windows rediscover it. also, dont forget about system restore if using xp

well, the computer is recognizing the DVD drive. you may have to rollback the software driver. to do this, open my computer so you can see the icon of the disc drive that is acting up. right click the drive, and click properties. this should bring up a Properties window. click the Hardware tab. this will bring up the drive's properties. there will be a few options to choose from. choose the "Roll back driver" option. if this doesn't work, try disconnecting the IDE cable from the drive itself and then reconnect it.

Your driver may take either -R or +R DVDs but not both. Look on the label on the drive where the manufacturer name is.... its should say there. Also, your DVD player may take only -R or +R. Drives and players more than 3 years old probably take -R.
