At what point should a populace take it upon themselves to overthrow a regime? How far should a Government be allowed to go before violence becomes a practical solution? Even when things are clearly going badly and the authorities are out of control the brave souls who instigate a revolution will always be called Traitors by the regime in power. Either through the military turning on our corrupt politicians or a popular public uprising.

Years ago Governments in the West were seriously concerned about the possibility of a public revolt. Especially in times of recession. Today they seem to take public support for their rotten to the core systems for granted. Probably because the media gives them more control over us. So long as the economy is going ok people will ignore things like being unable to afford a house, work being outsourced overseas, lack of justice unless you happen to be rich, hospital waiting lines etc.

Do we really need such evil corrupt and power crazed Government?

The only problem is the amount of bloodshed it would take to over-through them, and the amount of finances it would take to replace them with an uncorrupted Democratic Regime. Unfortunately for the United States of America the very thing that made them a world power(Capitalism) is what is causing the demise of its Democracy(rather Democratic Republic) Anyhow the probability of a worse and even more corrupt regime following any type of violent upheaval out ways the possible benefits.
Instead we should work within the system at hand use the press, the judicial system, and local and state governments to try to keep in check the current trend towards tyranny. Above all get out the vote make it obvious when they cheat. And push for legislation that will curb the economic trends towards polarization.

You are way off the deep end. This is not a fun and games time in history, but it is not our government causing the problem. We are acting in response to those who attacked us. Our aim is to prevent it from happening again.

You give our government more power, more control and more blame than it deserves. The media does the same thing.

Jobs overseas: could it be that Americans want lower prices? That might explain why manufacturers cannot compete. That is how jobs ended up overseas, not because the government commanded it. How much are you willing to pay for a shirt? If it were made in America, you would be paying 3 to 10 times more for products. The only way to avoid imports is to put a block on them and that would stop exports. So I guess the government could be blamed for allowing trade.

With all the government sponsored loans, anyone who works at a reasonable pay scale - not all jobs command more than minimum wage - and have good credit, willing to save and willing to buy within their means, can afford a house.

If you were able to over throw the government, what would you do with the country. It is like the dog chasing a car and catching it. What now???!!!

Name a country where you could discuss this subject in public.

Well, one measure of when a society is at a revolutionary peak is the lawlessness that exists in your society at large. If the level of public concern is very high, but the notion of revolution is not seen as a solution, then a general disregard and disrespect for the laws and mores of your society can have the same result as a revolution but be less obvious and harder to suppress.
So, how bad is it when a country lies to it's people on a daily basis. You can sometimes measure that by a general feeling of alienation or futility from that society or government by its own citizens.
For example, the death rate in America is very high compared to many other countries in the world from gunshots. It would be fairly easy to conclude that a more malicious revolution was taking place than meets the eye in America.
Another way to measure it would be the extent of homelessness, mental health problems, cancer, obesity and so on. In most of these cases, America suffers a great deal of these problems with a kind of social breakdown and a chaotic social situation.
Another measure of the health of a society is the distribution of asset between the people of the society. It is assumed that if a small percentage of people hold most of the wealth of the society and make no effort to include the lower classes in the wealth gathering activities, then a society is going to start breaking down. The poor are going to start fighting back from simple neglect.

We have a revolution every 2 years in the House/Senate and 4 years for the Prez. That's about as close to a revolt as we will get in the US for a while. What we may see is a tax revolt. One day the rich, who are taxed more and more each year by both political parties will move their money, withhold their money or leave the country. They will just opt to not participate in the class envy game. That's when the proverbial excrement will hit the fan.

Yeah, back when governments were more psychotic than are now. Do you really want a return to those times?

When the polictical and economic positions become combined with indifference and no means for escape through justice and dialog. This will breed the conditions for revolution.
