I had 2 children and both pregnancies i smoked anywhere from a few cigarettes to a pack a day. the only times that i cut down or stopped was when i was about 2 months they made me cautious then when i got past the morning sickness stage i wanted them again. my children weighed 6 lbs 14 oz and 6 lbs 15 oz both very healthy full term children. i guess the reason i never forced myself to quite is because my doctor gave me an excuse. she told me that it was more stress full on the child to quit then it was to continue. the with drawls would harm the baby more so then the smoking. i am not encouraging u to pick up a habit however, but it is ultimately Ur choice, on whether u smoke or quit. good luck

My sister smoked with all 3 of her pregnancies. 2 of her children have heart problems, and the other has severe asthma. She smoked around a 1/2 pack a day.
There is no proof that smoking caused these conditions, but would you risk it? Would you risk your child having a birth defect or major asthma or heart problems? I would have the healthiest pregnancy that you can and give your baby the best chance that you can give.

I smoked the whole 9 months, my ob/gyn told me that if I stopped suddenly I might lose the baby, because the baby was us-to it, instead for me to go to an light if i smoked full flavor or ultralight if i smoked a light and to cut back by half if I could. My son was 1 week late and was healthy, he is now 10yrs old and still healthy not major health problems at all.

I smoked two cigarettes a day and my baby weighed 5 pounds and did not sleep but 20 Minutes at a time for three months. I would not do it again if I had the chance.

smoking during pregnancy is not recommended, however when i got pregnant, my doctor advised me to slow my smoking and then quit, not quit cold turkey, the baby could already be dependant on the nicotine, and cold turkey quitting could cause complications. i am currently only smoking 1 - 3 cigarettes a day, and my baby is developing normally, but i will be quitting by the new year. good luck.

No, I didn't, but I know a few people who did. I told them not to and told them and complained, but I have to say that they all gave birth to 8 pound plus babies. Their children do get sick a lot now that they are older, but who knows if that has anything to do with them smoking while they were pregnant. I would say talk to your doctor if you dont think you can stop while you are pregnant and maybe he can give you some alternatives.

If you're considering smoking during pregnancy, please don't. It is so bad for both you and the tiny baby growing inside of you. I'm not a smoker and had two healthy pregnancies and babies. But, I can tell you that my mother-in-law smoked and drank with her pregnancies. She has two kids (including my husband) with severe asthma and one kid who has growth problems. My friend also smoked during her preg. and her son was diagnosed with asthma when he was only 3.

please stop smoking hon. you have to think about the health of your baby....that's more important than any craving you might have.
One friend of mine smoked while she was pregnant and ended up miscarrying. Another had a baby with a very low birth weight and respiratory problems.
Please, for the sake of your child, stop smoking because the repercussions just aren't worth it.
