It would probably have a significant impact on the individual. But what form that impact might take depends on the person and the environment in which bullying takes place. I would say that it would most likely lead to anger. But that anger might be repressed, creating a more timid individual. It might cause a person to act out and express that anger--in negative or positive manner. However, who's to say it wouldn't simply cause feelings of self-doubt and insecurity, a lack self-confidence? If the bullying was never put to an end and went on all throughout high school, who knows what sort of toll that would take on a person's psyche? Possibly very little or maybe beneficial.

Our enviroment does influence us. There is a controversy between which has most influence environment, genes, or nurture. I suppose, the individual has the most influence on what impacts him the most. Some people can let things roll off their backs while others harbor resentments. If the person has never dealt with what they perceive as a problem, it can cause a great deal of emotional pain and problems.

ive never experienced being bullied as a child but know plenty who have. it lowers their self esteem and unless they can get some counselling it can effect their adult life because they dont trust people. they are scared of being hurt again. some come out the other end and become stronger people for the experience but are still wary of others and wont give fully of themsevles. bullying by peers or family is very cruel and is another form of abuse.

I was bullied, but I must be quite well adjusted, because once I left school it totally slipped my mind and when I was in high school I actually became friends with my former bully. Maybe that helped too.
I know of one other kid, he had problems and it finally got resolved through counseling when he was 15.

Well, speaking from experience, it made me a much stronger person, and I was forced to find the diamond in me because I was treated like coal.

I am one of the greatest people I know today because of the awful girls that beat me up in Jr High.

As you see you received many different types of answers. That is the answer; variance. That is a problem with psychology; typological questioning,ie, yours. I am glad to see the varied answers, though, because that is how it varies; from person to person and from context to context.

Andrew ? lol...

Umm I'd doubt it would have too much of an effect... depends on how severely they were bullied I guess...

If it's you and you think it may have affected you, you should go see a shrink...

The person would have a lot of anger. It might come out as depression or self destructiveness, or self destructive relationships of even being masochistic or sadistic. I would expect they would hurt people somehow.
