I am hearing Korean culture and Korean (men) are popular and held in high regard in Phillippines.

I am quite surprsied to that, because having lived in US for long time, I am used to the unfortunate fact that Korean men (not so much Korean women) are one of the least popular group with other Asian men due to being small in number, all kinds of non-sense stereotypes, racism (coming even from Korean females), and the fact Koreans don't have roots in the U.S.

Are these the less the possibility in Phillippines for Korean men? I am certain one would have to right qualities to be held in good regard, but I am sick and tired of Korean men's built-in disadvantages in Caucasian (and Black) dominant society.

due to the recent rise of the korean wave or halryu kdramas have been imported here in the philippines. Most of these series were well received by the filipinos. and because of this, filipinos now have a better understanding of korean culture.

koreans basically are in the country because they are studying, working or for leisure. they also have a sizable population here. i've met some through my church and school and basically they are fun to be with.

I don't know if korean men are popular here. maybe you are talking about the korean actors. Yes some are popular here, specially if they are from hit series like my girl (lee dong wok), fans came just to see a glimpse of him when he was in manila.

Huh? Where did you hear that? Filipinos watch Korean drama, yes, and there are some Koreans in the Philippines. To be honest,I haven't met a single Korean when I was still living in the Philippines. But due to the K-dramas, we are quite aware of some Korean culture, but I'm not sure about the "held in high regard" part. We just respect it as some other culture the way we respect all the different cultures in the U.S.

Well, you know, I have been teaching Koreans for two years and I have known a lot of them. However, I have never been attracted to any Korean man. The same thing happens to many teachers in our school who teach this people. Some may appear appealing but not all. Still, for many Filipinos, Filipino looks are much more appealing. They don't have the features that most women in the Philippines desire for a man. By the way, we care about hygiene here and we want men who care to take a bath everyday. They're sickly as well.

Anyway, Korean men with high regard? No way. I am from a place where thousands of KOreans are seen but nobody seems to give a damn on them.

Well, I don't know whether well esteemed is the correct term, but one thing I know for sure is Filipinos are fond of anything Korean -- the people, the culture, and K dramas.

I've actually met a couple of Koreans -- men and women alike -- through my church friends, and I have found them to be very fascinating people. They're fun to be with and so open to trying new things.

I dont think Koreans are held in high regard or are even popular. Thats a wrong statement. But Filipinos treat everyone equally. There are no popularity contest going on.

In fact, i havent met any korean who exceeds in any field in the Philippines.
