The world is constantly being reminded of war. We are at war here, at war there. Global warming is killing our wildlife, we are using up greenspace and destroying our environment. Children are dying of hiv by the thousands and thousands in Africa. The stores keep piping in the jolly Christmas songs, while the homeless and hungry lay on park benches covered with newspaper to keep the cold out. We saw how government allowed so many many people die without aid for days in Louisiana because these people were poor and the majority were black. Yet some people still feel the government is a fair government. We want better homes, nicer cars, and yell at our fellow man if they accidentilly cut us off on the highway. We buy dogs and cats and when they become a problem we dump them at a local shelter yet ignore the pain these small creatures must be feeling inside their hearts and minds. We are a selfish lot. We need to look inside ourselves and give a random act of kindness some thought as an everyday occurence rather then something Oprah made to be fashionable. We need to be more human. More loving. Then maybe just maybe we can smile and say Merry Christmas!

Christmas is in the heart. It is a celebration of God's son's birth. I don't think it's close to the actual date. According to scientists who have studied the placement of the stars, as described in the Bible, it should be in July. I don't think it really matters when it actually happened, I just think we should always be thankful for the birth of Jesus.
When times are hard financially and it is hard to buy gifts for the children, who make Christmas so much fun, I think part of the spirit is gone. I know that's not right, however, it is reality.
By the way, I have a son who is a restaurant manager, we always remember to tip. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and thanks for being so patient with the public.

i agree. People out there totally miss the point about this but you are right on.
It has nothing to do with other religions trying to kill Christmas or the media like the wacko republicans like to think. It is big business. I mean everything is $$$$$$$$$. people get ruder near the holidays and get meaner. i ean collection agencies are the worst and bill collectors because they are all on co mission everybody wants theirs. car dealerships, "oh sorry, we are booked up, you will have to wait on your car until next year," crap like that destroys the holiday. we are destroying it from within. I mean turn on CNBC and they say, well if you do not sped $500 on a gift for somebody, then you are worthless. everything US being geared in this country toward the super rich. People are getting robbed more than ever before. near me, there have been robberies from houses because the criminals say that well"I want my piece also, and I will steal to get it".
This is a result of this ownership society we have let the Righties create and we need to correct it because it is destroying us.

Christmas has become so much about seeing the family you try to avoid all year, and giving gifts to everyone that 'the big day' is all we thing about. Money for gifts, and no free time kill the spirit faster than anything. Just remember that the people who are most evil are the ones who need it the most!

Oh, don't mind them. Maybe they're just really busy, cause you know, people do get so busy when it's christmas time. Just ignore them and be positive.
