What you are missing is that doctors are not permitted to participate in executions and people who do participate are not as well trained as anesthesiolgsts. As a result, the drugs are often improperly administered. Imagine having a hospital orderly (instead of a doctor) administer anesthesia during an operation. The lethal injection cocktail has been banned as a way to euthanize animals. Unless enough of the drug to make the condemned unconscious is given, correctly, the condemned person can wake up and feel the excrutiating pain of the last drug. But because of the paralytic drug, the condemned cannot move or cry out so that no one else realizes this.

There are plenty of ways to kill someone quickly and humanely. We do it to our pets when they are too sick to recover.

A large dose of barbiturates for example will cause death, but it takes time. They want a drug combination that will work within a few minutes, so that they can fulfill the requirement that the execution is public.

I think the guillotine was probably one of the most effective and painless systems ever invented, but for some reason anything involving blood seems to revolt us, while still we want (as a society) the death penalty.

I dont' get why the hell it matters, the guys gonna die within 30 minutes. People are so damn sensative in this country. Your sensitivity costs us a million dollars just to kill one scumbag. What they deserve is a bullet in the back of the head, i'm sure that would be much more cost effective. Do you realize they swab the guys arm with alcohol before injecting the needle. What they afraid of the dead body might get an infection. I mean the guys going to freaking die in a couple of minutes. ARGGGGGGG this stuff piss's me off.

Hel- no..they should die within one day of sentencing
no. I would have stuck him several times on purpose JUST to make him suffer
NO but I don't lethal injection is cruel enough
why are we so concerned with the murderers being so FREE from pain..don't the victims or their families count for anything.. I say let's let the victim suffer as much as possible for as long as possible..Mabye it would deter so much crime

A. Pro death penalty, still pro.

B. No.

C. No

D. Do not care. Those who are executed killed people. I have no problem with them being beaten to death.

Your question brings out what is wrong with the judicial system: we worry more about coddling the bad guys than punishing them.

I am not in favor of the death penalty because it costs the tax payers too much money. The appeals process actually costs more than housing them for the rest of their lives.

Explain to me why we are so upset that a cold blooded murderer "might" have felt some discomfort while he was being executed for the crimes that he committed?
