Me i don't think it is a good idea to put weapons in space at all, sure there will always be the what if a asteroid comes a calling arguement, but in my opinion if an asteroid comes this way we may as well just bend over and kiss our butts good by because no amount of weapons in orbit is going to do anything.

Someone will do it. Whether it's the Americans now, or the Chinese in 20 years, it will happen.

Putting weapons into any system is a good idea Infact I think more people should have nukes and such weapons at there dispossal.............. OK but honestly if americans dont take control of space then some other country will. And it was suppost to be part of the ussr's space program to put shrapnel like satalites into orbit who knows if they did or not? I for one am glad we live in a world where there are checks and balances for stuff like this so if the US were to put a space weapon into orbit china or russia or the UN would probably have some type of counter messure developed very soon after finding out about it. Of course this leads me to the conclusion that we dont know much about what really goes on in space as far as militarization goes for the simple fact that its probably TOP SECRET++.

I have no problem with it. We are advancing as a species, and there's only so much advancement we can do here on earth. Space is next.

And I don't think there's anyway we can know for certain that weapons wouldn't do anything to an asteroid...maybe the weapons wouldn't destroy it completely, but could at least blow into multiple pieces so it wouldn't hurt us as badly.

Okay, first off.. Millitary Control of Space? Are you serious? Honestly, go for it. Good luck. It might take a while.

But, let's also be realistic here.

"Every new frontier has brought new places and ways for men to die, why should the fututre be any different?"
- Sid Meiers Alpha Centauri

Let's face it. It's going to happen. One way or another, it's going to happen. It doesn't matter who does it first, someday everyone's going to wield that same sword.

I don't like the idea, but I don't like a lot of ideas that have been pretty popular since, well, the dawn of civilization. I really don't think people are about to start listening.

So long as we have bodies we will fight. So long as we have hands to hold weapons, we will war.

And Morpheous.. my god. How was that statment absolutly moronic? Let me count the ways..

Watch less TV, man.

i believe all orbiting satellites are weapons. They invade our entire life with nonstop hysterical satellite TV news and garbage, GPS devices which will soon be spying on everyone if not already, spy cameras that can focus on you brushing your teeth through your window from 12000 miles up, soon there will be satellite fones in everyone's pockets.
Then, all these satellites will eventually turn into space junk and you won't be able to launch anything without smashing into this crap at 30,000 miles per hour.

If the Bush Nazification of America has anything to do with it, we will see it.Multiple warheads to repeatedly strike a incoming asteroid to deflect it or destroy it is a good idea.It would be better then nothing like now.

Picture this ....

It's 25,000 years ago ... Ugg (Neanderthal) says to his neighbor Ug Ug 'Just look at those destructive hairless apes - it shouldn't be allowed ! Fancy killing animals just because it's winter and there is no other food about - and as for wearing fur, that's disgusting ! Mark my words - if they keep on using up natural resources at this rate soon there will be no animals and then were will they be ? Extinct I tell you, extinct !'

Here is another way to look at it - the world consists of Predators (aka 'meat eaters') and Prey (aka 'vegetarians'). Predators eat Prey. Predators are cleverer than Prey = they have to be - Predators have to run down and catch Prey - Prey eat whatever is growing in front of them.

I no longer heard of this fact yet what you telling it sound to me like it really is dawning on him that no human being regulations continuously. in the journey that they get there first and concentration all their weapon and technologies potential there it may probable be the actually thanks to keep on correct of problems with situation on planet earth. Bush has were given potential topics. he desires some intense friggin councelling. As for yet another chilly conflict ... no longer unavoidably with China yet i imagine this is going to likely be inevitable in my lifetime. actually this time this is going to likely be maliciously began off as adverse to the unique chilly conflict the position no human being had any authentic concept what the ends up of their moves will be, reason no human being had ever been in that position. there'll be someone large and powerfull adequate that ain't gonna stand for the delusions of potential that go by using the standard American president's head. There already are international places that are the first, the 2d is basically a remember of time. As to who owns the deed polls to area ... did you already know you could 'purchase' asteroids on line?

As long as man will be there, there will be a need to blow the other guy up. Wether it be space or inner space. "may the force be with you"
