I had a terrible experience in trying to find Channukka candles at my local walmart and was given little to no help and ended up at my local Target store. I live in Pensacola Florida and we do have a large Jewish community, this troubles me since I look at my check book register and I see Debit walmart, debit Murphy Gas , many times over I enjoy going to my local walmart it's convienent and close but after the way was treated I am not oposed to driving across town to the Target store

Walmart is primarily a Christian retail chain. This is evidenced by the large amount of Christian books they carry in their stores and the refusal to sell some merchandise because it is immoral. I don't know if this is the case with your experience of being unable to find Channukka merchandise. My opinion is that Walmart is driving away potential business by excluding our Jewish friends and neighbors from purchasing holiday items.

Stores typically cater to the community. I think it's ridiculous that a retailer as large as Wal-Mart doesn't have Channukka (am I spelling that right?) candles. I guess they forget not EVERYBODY is Christian. I would let a manager know. Not a manager on the sales floor because they are as helpful as the rest of the staff. But try calling one of their offices. I know that might sound useless but you can't get what you want unless you ask.

Your community doesn't HAVE to be ignored and won't if you take action.

I personally would stop shopping at Wal-Mart, or at least that one. When I lived in Utah (I lived on an Air Force base there) I was mistreated at many stores. People threw my change at me, sat my change on the counter, and wouldn't help me in stores. The movie rental chains RARELY carried African-American based movies and when they did, they'd only have one copy. I made the mistake of letting it go. Even if you are the minority in an area, you don't have to be overlooked. Make your presence know, and let the stores know what you need. With enough work, you may find not only Channukka candles, but Wal-Mart may even create a kosher section!
