Just as equally, if not more, than human rights. People who don't are heartless monsters. Humans are, afterall, animals too. We are no better than the rest.

This all depends on how you see yourself. If you see yourself as a species of the animal kingdom, then you are the "king" of the "jungle". And you set the rules.. and animals have no rights. But if you see yourself as something more than just a mammal... than you are not entitled to harm animals and you are obligated to treat animals as you would want to be treated. As believer of a set of ethics and morals or even to any religion or god, thou shall not kill. This means that animals have the right to be alive. But animals are not part of our society, they do not have the right to a fair trial, jk. All jokes aside, people go around believing that they have a duty to be humane... but it is inhumane to sacrifice an animal for your taste buds... do what you can live without. Just because we have the power to take lives doesn't mean we should, with great power comes great responsibility. But its your call.. after all I'm human and i have rights so I'm all good.

I believe they should be treated with respect, even those we use for food, clothing and other products. That means we treat them as humanely as possible, and use the least painful and quickest methods to kill. I also don't believe that we should hunt animals purely as sport - and that would include fishing.
I have no problem with anyone hunting for food, provided they are trained and equipped to do the job properly. Unfortunately, many amateur hunters don't know how to take a clean kill, or what to do if they wound an animal.

To a certain point, yes. Companion animals are often treated as family, as well they should be. As a whole, animals should be treated humanely, but certain animals must be sacrificed for the greater good, i.e. medical test subjects, food sources, etc. There's no one single answer to cover all aspects of animal rights, but no animal deserves to be mistreated for the hell of it. There must be Balance in all things.

Yes, I believe in animal rights. They are living beings and they also have feelings.

I don't believe that an animal's rights are equal to a human's, but I do think that they have a right to be treated humanely and with dignity while they are alive.

No, but I believe in animal welfare (no, not giving Fido money from the government) which is just looking out for an animals health and well-being.
P.S. I had steak tonight. I'm not like PETA crazy or anything.

The very idea that we should treat animals well because they have rights, rather than because we have responsibilities, has always seemed to me both silly and pointless.

I certainly do ! How would we feel if a more dominant species chose to ignore our voices, and USE us for whatever purposes they wanted , be it good or bad ? Animals do have a voice and we hear it--we just choose to ignore it !!

I'm an animal lover, but more along the lines of the ASPCA than PETA.
I eat animals and I wear leather.
