It costs money to have a domain name.
The money is for having a listing on a DNS (Domain Name Server) that tells browsers like Internet Explorer & Firefox where to find that server.
Try 1&1.com, though. I find their prices very reasonable, and their support is wonderful.

Yes.....google Microsoft Office Live. They give you FREE hosting, website, and a free domain. Your own "domain name" is what you want, where you get www.businessname.com and NOT www.blablah.com/longassaddress
