There is really no reason to believe the Emperor is dead. He got knocked off the Death Star and supposedly 'fell' to his death. Why would this, logically, kill him? In A New Hope, Darth Vader is seen falling from the galaxy in his ship, spinning out of control, yet he lives. In Empire Strikes Back, Luke is sent (or jumps) over the edge of the Death Star, yet he lives. I believe the same thing happened to either Yoda or Obi Wan. So, why wouldn't the Emperor, supposedly more powerful than them all, survive a basic fall? I think he would. I think he's alive. I think there should be a 3rd Trilogy. Who else agrees/disagrees that the Emperor is dead?

NO, he is definitely incinerated, dead se fi fine'.

But, I agree that there should be a third trilogy but not against the dark side. Throughout the first two trilogies one prejudice has remained constant and unchallenged, Droids, beings with neither a light side nor a dark side.

Wouldn't it just freak kids out to find out that R2D2 is the leader of a revolution to secure Droid rights?

The question is which side of the struggle would the jedi fall on?

DISAGREE....

1. He didn't get "knocked off" the death star, he was THROWN over a railing by Darth Vader. He fell into the reactor core where his body was disintegrated.

2. In A New Hope, Vader did not "fall" from the galaxy, his ship was damaged but NOT disabled during the fighting.

3. In Empire Strikes Back, Luke let himself fall through the ventilation shaft rather than allow Vader to capture him, and when he was hanging from the antenna array, he used the Force to send a call to Leia. She heard him, and guided Lando to take the Falcon under the city to catch Luke.

4. Nothing of the sort happened to Yoda or Obi-Wan... Yoda died in bed, and Obi-Wan was cut down by Vader.

5. Why wouldn't the Emperor survive the fall? He was shooting out bolts of pure Force energy, hitting himself multiple times, and there was nothing for him to grab onto as he was falling - he may have been the Emperor of a Galactic Empire, but he was also an old man.

6. You need to watch the movies again - AND READ THE BOOKS - it tells what happens after the Emperor dies, and explains what happens with the rest of the heroes when they move on with their lives. There is plans for a third trilogy, but those are just rumors at this time - there's been dozens of official novels since the end of Return of the Jedi.

The nerd answer here:

He's dead, but he comes back as a spirit, and even gets cloned as a younger version of himself. Luke seems to go over to the dark side for a bit and become his apprentice, but it's just a sham.

This is from the "extended universe" of books/comic books.
Go to wikipedia.org and type in "palpatine." It's pretty comprehensive.

What difference could it possible make at this point. George Lucas has said for years that there will be no more episodes. Only the true star wars geek worries about such things.

i always say if the scene cuts away or insinuates the character dies, he does not. if it actually shows him dieing then he dies, but being thrown from a building and not showing him to actually hit the ground, insinuates that he did die, but did he.....
