I read an article about how some of the most successful relationships today are based on lies and it got me contrasting it against the conformed morale of a "text-book" example of a healthy relationships. There is no such thing as a white lie. A lie is a lie, it doesn't matter how one sugar-coats it to reaffirm themselves that it isn't one. Now we all have been duly informed of the repercussion of a lie at some point in our lives, how it destroys bonds and trust. But isn't a lie well stuck too is as good as the truth? Before someone throws down the hammer of truth listen to this example. A wife ask her husband if she looks fat in a said dress, husband lies and says she doesn't? Remember there are no such thing as a white lie. Now take that situation and multiply it by a thousand. Now, lets say the wife leads a double life, she's cheating on her husband. But she keeps both life in balance? Neither neglecting one over the other. Does that mean its ok to lie so long no one gets hurt?.

I don't think you can compare the lie meant to spare ones ego regarding their appearance to the lie of a lifestyle - the lie of an entire existence. No one gets hurt? In theory if no one finds out you could believe that to be true. However, the wife knows. On some level this lie always undermines the relationship she has with her husband. She always withholds something - keeps something in reserve meant for her husband but kept for her lover. Whether it's one night of affection or a thousand or whether it's the intimacy she shares with the lover in the form of a secret, a moment of vulnerability or a truth that will only be told once, it's something she won't share with both. She can't take it back. She can't spread it so thin as to make it available to the lover as well as the husband. Someone always gets hurt. If not the husband then how bout the lover? The man who will never have the woman who cannot be fully available to him physically, emotionally or socially. If not the lover then the woman. She will always know. She will always feel she is less than who she might have been in both worlds and to herself. Good question.

I don't think a bunch of lies can be any kind of relationship, friends, lovers, etc. A lie always hurts someone in the long run either the person lying or the one being lied to. Even a lie stuck to is still a lie. If a relationship is built on lies you are not in a REAL relationship and you are not being yourself if you are lying all the time. How can you have a healthy relationship if you are not yourself? So I think that is defintently false.

Most people will tell you they want the truth, but in reality they would rather have the lie.
Nobody wants to hear I hate your mother, and how she controls you.
Your fat, you smell bad, your teeth look yucky, that pimple looks horrid, those jeans are too tight, you are too old to act like that, ect....
People lie plain and simple. White lies allegedly are attached to make you feel good stuff, when in reality they are still a lie.

As far as i am concerned you can not live a lie. For a relationship to work you must be open and honest with each other at all times.

I would say no, because it isnt right to be unfaithful now i can agree about white lies to your children like about santa, easter bunny... but to cheat on some one is wrong you should give your whole heart to a relationship...

I think not.... because it is according who you ask... the woman or the man... me being a woman... I want the truth... that way I can decide for myself if I can live with the man or not... I can't stand a a man who lies....
